Tax & purchasing power
Tax is an illustrative deduction from total interest at maturity, not annual taxation or TDS. It does not reduce the compounding balance.
Illustrative rates. Equivalent monthly accrual; actual bank day counts, broken periods, fees and rounding may differ.

Fixed deposit maturity, beyond the advertised rate
A cumulative fixed deposit reinvests interest instead of paying it out. Compare maturity values at the same deposit amount and tenure, then consider what remains after your assumed tax and inflation. Enter the applicable rate from your bank; the default is an illustration, not a current offer.
Worked example
Rs 1,00,000 at 10% compounded annually for 24 months grows to Rs 1,21,000 before tax. The Rs 21,000 interest includes Rs 1,000 earned on the first year's interest.
Formula and calculation assumptions
Monthly rate = (1 + nominal annual rate / frequency)^(frequency / 12) - 1Rates in the formula are decimals. Every month, the balance grows at this equivalent rate. Contributions are added before growth in beginning-of-month mode and after growth in end-of-month mode. No intermediate rounding is applied. Final displays are rounded to rupees; the monthly CSV retains two decimal places. Tenure is an integer number of months.
Estimated tax equals accumulated interest multiplied by your assumed tax percentage. It is deducted only from the final displayed balance, not from annual accrual. Today's purchasing power divides that net balance by (1 + inflation)^(months / 12). Neither tax input nor inflation default is a statutory rate or a forecast.

Common questions
Does this calculate monthly interest payouts?
No. This tool models cumulative reinvestment. Non-cumulative monthly payouts may use discounted rates and must be calculated using your bank's product terms.
Why can a bank maturity quote differ?
Banks may use actual dates, broken-period simple interest, different day counts and intermediate rounding. This model uses equivalent monthly accrual, so fractional compounding periods are estimates.
Are senior-citizen rates included?
Enter the rate you are actually eligible for. There is no automatic senior-citizen uplift or live bank-rate feed.
